About Prof. Dr. İlker Sücüllü

Private Clinic

2022 – Present

• Since April 2022, Prof. Dr. İlker Sücüllü has been providing medical services at his own private clinic under the name “Sücüllü Clinic.”
• At his clinic, he focuses specifically on diseases of the colon and anal region, with particular emphasis on non-surgical treatment methods.
• For patients requiring surgery, minimally invasive solutions are offered that do not require hospitalization, minimize tissue damage, and provide fast and effective outcomes. In addition, treatments for defecation disorders are also provided.

Professorship in General Surgery

2017 – 2022

• In August 2017, he was appointed Professor of General Surgery at the University of Health Sciences and continued in this role until his retirement in January 2020.
• While working at GATA (Gülhane Training and Research Hospital) and the University of Health Sciences, he performed numerous surgeries in the fields of colorectal surgery and proctology.
• Between January 2020 and January 2022, he served as Professor of General Surgery at Medipol University. During this period, together with the team he established at Medipol University Pendik Hospital, he performed many colorectal surgeries.

Subspecialty Certification in Surgical Oncology

2012

• In February 2012, after documenting his academic work, training, and cancer surgeries, he was awarded the Surgical Oncology Subspecialty Certificate by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye.

Associate Professorship in General Surgery

2011

• In January 2011, he successfully passed the examination organized by the Inter-University Council (ÜAK) and was unanimously awarded the title of Associate Professor of General Surgery.

Observership in Advanced Colorectal Surgery

2009

• In November 2009, he spent three months in the United States as a visiting observer at the Cleveland Clinic Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute, Department of Colorectal Surgery, in Cleveland.
• During this period, he had the opportunity to observe the latest developments in preoperative patient preparation, surgical procedures, and anal physiology laboratories at a center dedicated exclusively to colorectal surgery.

Assistant Professorship in General Surgery

2006

• In February 2006, he was appointed Assistant Professor of General Surgery at GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital.
• Until becoming an Associate Professor, he established and actively operated the anal physiology laboratory and the surgical endoscopy unit within the department.
• The endoscopy unit he founded was accredited by the Turkish Surgical Association as an “Accredited Training Unit,” enabling the certification of many general surgeons.
• He conducted numerous studies using Endoanal Ultrasound, a technology available only in selected centers in Türkiye, and contributed to the department becoming a reference center in Istanbul.

Chief Physician (General Surgery Specialist)

2005

• In July 2005, he was appointed Chief Physician and General Surgery Specialist at Şırnak Military Hospital and served in this role until February 2006, completing his compulsory service.
• At Şırnak Military Hospital and Şırnak State Hospital, where he was invited as a consultant, he performed numerous surgeries primarily focused on trauma surgery.

2004 – 2005

• Between February 2004 and June 2005, he worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Ankara Beytepe Gendarmerie Hospital.
• During this period, he successfully passed the examination organized by GATA Command and qualified for the title of Assistant Professor.
• He performed numerous surgeries at Ankara Gendarmerie Hospital, primarily focusing on colorectal and proctological cases.

Residency Training in General Surgery

1999 – 2004

• Between December 1999 and January 2004, he completed his General Surgery residency at GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital.
• As his thesis, he presented a study titled “The effects of c-erb B-2, nm23, bcl-2, and p53 protein gene expressions in colorectal cancers.”

Infirmary Physician (Compulsory Service)

1997 – 1999

• Between November 1997 and November 1999, he served as an infirmary physician at the 116th Gendarmerie Training Regiment in Çanakkale.
• In April 1998, he passed the Medical Specialty Examination (TUS) and earned the right to pursue residency training in General Surgery.

Internship

1996 – 1997

• Between November 1996 and November 1997, he received military and medical training while serving under the Internship Unit Command in Ankara and Samsun.
• During this period, he successfully completed Emergency Medicine and Microsurgery courses at Gülhane Military Medical Academy.

• He graduated from Gülhane Military Medical Faculty in November 1996 with the rank of Gendarmerie Medical Lieutenant.

1989

• He completed his primary education at Denizli Gazi Primary School and his secondary education at Pamukkale Middle School.
• He graduated from Denizli High School in June 1989. During high school, he represented Denizli in TÜBİTAK physics competitions.
• He was admitted to Gülhane Military Medical Faculty through the national university entrance examination.
